Molecular Interactions between Gasotransmitters in Patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea

چکیده
Patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) have an increased risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD). Nitric oxide (NO) and heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) affect vascular tone are vasoprotective. Furthermore, hydrogen sulfide (H2S), HO-1 inducer, is known to be a major effector molecule driving apneas. This study was conducted examine the molecular relationships between these gasotransmitters in patients OSA. Individuals who presented for evaluation possible OSA were recruited underwent overnight polysomnography. apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) >5 per hour (OSA diagnosis) considered cases (n = 19), while those AHI <5 6) controls. Blood samples obtained before again from prior initiating treatment. H2S, NO, levels assayed. showed lower NO H2S at baseline compared further decreased significantly time diagnosis, largely increasing trend, which observed only when subjects showing level >0.5 μM excluded. Interestingly, analysis did not show significant change baseline, confirming inverse relationship two gasotransmitters. The alterations bioavailability endogenous its interactions regulating may play role pathogenesis CVD patients.

Sleep Architecture in Patients With Primary Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea
Introduction: This study aimed to investigate sleep architecture in patients with primary snoring and obstructive sleep apnea. Methods: In this study, we analyzed polysomnographic data of 391 clients who referred to Sleep Disorders Research Center (SDRS). These people were classified into three groups based on their Apnea-Hypopnea Index (AHI) and snoring; control, Primary Snoring (PS), and Obs...

Apert syndrome is a rare kind of craniosynostosis which is identified with fusion of cranial sutures during prematurity period and causes physical and intellectual disorders in younger ages. These patients may show symptoms of obstructive sleep apnea due to abnormal craniofacial shape. This article introduces a patient with Apert syndrome, with apnea symptoms, cyanosis, snoring, restlessness, n...
متن کاملTwelve patients with documented obstructive sleep apnea
were enrolled in a double-blind placebo controlled crossover trial of oral theophylline, (Uniphyllin) 800 mg, taken at night for four weeks. Overnight polysomnography, using standard techniques, was perfisemed at the end of each treatment period. The total number of apneas (A) and hypopneas (H) decreased significantly while receiving the ophylline compared to placebo, from 398(69), mean (SEM), ...
